Orthopaedic – Sports Acupuncture For Pain:

HEAD, NECK, BACK, SHOULDER, HIP, SCIATIC, PELVIC, KNEE, ANKLE OR FOOT PAIN – there’s a connection.

At Ben&biao our Orthopaedic-Sports acupuncturists harness the brilliance of acupuncture in relieving pain and accelerating the healing process, combined with modern sports medicine and the most up-to-date electro-acupuncture techniques to generate effective and unique systems for treating injuries and pain.

Why would you consider Orthopaedic and Sports Acupuncture for muscle pain?

Whether you’re an elite athlete or a weekend warrior; a worker stuck in a pattern of poor postural alignment; a youngster with growing pains or just young at heart with more miles on the body clock than you care to admit, the chances are you have already suffered debilitating muscle pain.

Your body is made up of over 600 interconnecting muscles that fire and move in functional patterns, extraordinarily nuanced and complex and mostly sub-conscious.

Trauma, overuse, surgery, accidents, stress, wrongly fitting footwear and of course, the aging process itself, can all change our movement patterns, and the result can be pain.

Whether your pain is recent or chronic, you don’t have to live with it.

Muscles are amazing because they are flexible and can change quickly when given the right treatment.  Massage is therapeutic, but getting to the deep muscles can be uncomfortable, and it cannot reach the really deep muscles.

Many people have heard of “dry needling”. This is targeting treat trigger points sitting within the muscle.  When correctly needled a trigger point releases noxious chemicals and relaxes but this is just part of the story.  It won’t help if you have weak or tired muscles that do not fire or work as they should. Nor will it address long term tightness and short, ischaemic muscles. (muscles lacking blood flow).

What is the answer?

At Ben & biao we understand the global picture of how your body is ordered and balanced, how your body moves, and how one issue can lead to problems elsewhere. We look strategically and systematically at identifying the root cause of any pain, dysfunction, or areas holding you back from performance improvements.

Our practitioners’ use their post-grad training and expertise in neurofunctional acupuncture, trigger point therapy, dry needling, distal acupuncture, gua sha, cupping and tuina (Chinese massage therapy), to create effective treatment plans for our patients designed to get you out of pain and back in the game fast.

What once took weeks of treatment combining physio, massage and acupuncture can now be done in one or two treatments using these new methods.

At Ben & biao you will find acupuncturists that have completed post graduate sports and muscle medicine training, electro acupuncture and trigger point therapy with Dr Richard Hazel, Dr Dan Dominguez – the acupuncturist for the NFL and Olympic athletes, Dr Matt Callison and Neuropuncturist, Dr Mike Corradino and Dr Anthony Lombardi both here and in the US all world leading experts in this field.
