‘We never forget that you are our patient and that your priority is the live birth of a healthy baby.’ Heidi Dunn, ben&biao health director

How can we assist?

Nutrition Advice for Fertility

We know that good nutrition is the cornerstone to laying the foundations for creating healthy eggs and sperm.

There is a lot of information and advice on line, from friends and family and it feels like every day there is something ‘new’ to know and sometimes this information conflicts with previous information.

At ben&biao we attempt to cut through the generalisations, the new fads and the out of date information. Our practitioners know that no two people are the same and therefore what may be needed for the best possible outcome in fertility is a personalized and targeted nutritional plan.

If you feel that your diet could do with an overhaul prior to conception or during pregnancy then book an appointment with our clinical nutritionist.

  • She will coach you through your nutritional needs.
  • Provide meal and snack plans
  • Provide you with details on what foods to add in or take away
  • Advise what supplements you need

Acupuncture

How can acupuncture help female fertility?

There is evidence to show that acupuncture may improve fertility rates in women. This is because acupuncture stimulates the nervous system which in turn regulates the endocrine (hormonal) system. The result is regulated hormones, improved egg quality, improved follicle-stimulating hormones, luteinising hormones and progesterone levels, increased energy and libido, and decreased menstrual irregularities.

Can acupuncture help IVF support?

Acupuncture has been shown in studies to improve IVF success. Leading IVF clinics across the world now recognise the positive impact acupuncture can have in the lead-up to IVF. Acupuncture improves anti-Mullerian hormone levels, increases number of follicles during stimulation, decreases hyper-stimulation, increases endometrial growth and improves live birth outcomes.

How much is needed?

Statistically, the best results are achieved when acupuncture is used for 2-3 months in the lead-up to conception. However, if you don’t have that much time acupuncture can still have an effect even during a short cycle of IVF. Call the clinic to discuss how much acupuncture you will need for your situation or ask for a consultation with one of our directors.

Chinese Medicine

For women who have inhibitors to a successful pregnancy such as unexplained infertility, endometriosis, polycystic ovary syndrome or fibroids we will advocate herbal medicines which are stronger in action and or nutritional supplementation as well as recommend next steps with your doctor of IVF specialist.

Is treatment at ben&biao right for me?

If you recognise any of the above the answer is probably. Our practitioners have treated 100s of women before, during and after babies. We pride ourselves on knowing the right steps to take and will happily work with IVF specialists, gynaecologists and obstetricians for your benefit. We never forget that your priority is the live birth of a healthy baby.
